Ubud has a vast assortment of art and jewelry shops. We headed for the chocolate avocado juice and checked out boutique type stores on Jl Monkey Forest and Jl Raya Ubud for bargains. With the help of local police, we got money back from a dishonest phone card vendor who sold a card expired before my friend purchased it and argued that she roamed and used up the minutes.
I strolled around the forest full of monkeys without entering the entrances. The monkeys often were seen meticulously grooming each other. The young monkeys are extremely cute and playful. The Ubud Monkey Forest covers approximately a tenth of a square kilometer (approximately 10 hectares or 27 acres) and contains at least 115 different species of trees.The Pura Dalem Agung Padangtegal temple, a "Holy Spring" bathing temple, and another temple used for cremationceremonies all lie within its boundaries.
Watched the gently rolling rice paddies and greenness, and absorbed the gentle beauty.
Toured the Royal Temple of Mengwi Built in 1634 by a King of the Mengwi dynasty, this impressive complex stands on an island in a river, its inner temple surrounded by a moat. Its Balinese name Pura Taman Ayun literally means ‘Garden Temple in the Water’.
Part of a network of directional temples that protect Bali from evil spirits, Pura Taman Ayun was built as a series of garden terraces with courtyards on different levels. The entire complex was designed to symbolize the mythological home of the gods, Mount Meru, floating in the sea of eternity.
Tasted 16 favors of coffee including 人蔘 ginseng, red ginger, while ginger, lemon, etc. I played with luwak/ mongoose 麝香貓鼬, and shard the delicious luwak coffee with my tour mates. It has almost no confines and light sour taste and sold at $26 for 100g. I found the coffee at the biggest supermarket $8 per 100 g.
